Blum’s Services: Our New and Improved Ultrasound Technology

With our Philips Affiniti and Lumify ultrasonography equipment, we can take our pet diagnostic services to the next level. We are extremely excited to have this technology to help us make quicker, more accurate diagnoses for our patients.

For over 100 years, Philips has been at the forefront of imaging technology. By incorporating high image resolution technology from MRI into ultrasound technology, Philips has pushed the capabilities of ultrasound to new heights. Our primary Philips pet ultrasound machine uses less energy than it takes to operate a toaster, and our Lumify, which you’ll see in our exam rooms, replicates the Affiniti’s capabilities on a portable scale. In fact, the Lumify is the first app-based ultrasound in the world!

Clearer Image = Clearer Diagnosis

Ultrasound involves using high-frequency sound wave echoes to form a real-time image of your pet’s organs and other internal structures. With this advanced technology, our veterinarians can see a clearer, more complete picture of your pet’s internal systems, including:

  • The borders of organs, vessels, nodes, and the intestines
  • The entire abdominal system
  • Lymph nodes
  • Adrenal glands
  • The small folds of the stomach
  • …and more

We can also follow intestinal loops to identify irregularities, inflammation, and foreign objects, and measure the size of an organ, an internal growth, the intestinal wall, or the bladder wall.

How Our New Ultrasound Technology Benefits Your Pet

Being able to produce clearer images in a shorter amount of time allows us to make more efficient diagnoses for patients that need prompt solutions. We care deeply about reducing our patients’ stress making them feel more secure at our hospital. With our portable, app-based pet ultrasound technology, we can perform ultrasounds in the relative comfort of the exam room or bring our equipment directly to the kennel of a sick pet. Blum Animal Hospital is committed to always providing the most outstanding patient care and advanced diagnostics.
