About Blum’s use of pet X-ray and ultrasound
Pet X-rays and ultrasound, along with other diagnostics, provide a look at what’s going on inside your pet’s body. Some reasons your pet might be a good candidate for an X-ray include suspected fractures and orthopedic problems, bladder stones, tumors, soft tissue problems, swallowed objects, heart and lung disease, and more.
X-rays are completely non-invasive and painless, and they may be done without sedation if your pet is able to remain calm and cooperative. Certain pets, however, may require some level of light sedation in order to take accurate images. If this is necessary, you will be notified before any anesthesia or sedation is given.
Digital radiographs, the new standard of care for top veterinary practices, allows for more thorough images and results in seconds, all of which combine to help us treat your pet quickly and with the greatest amount of accuracy.
Pet ultrasound, or ultrasonography, has become a vital diagnostic tool at Blum. Ultrasound provides a gentle, non-invasive form of detailed investigation into the abdominal cavity of your pet. It is useful in multiple ways, from screening for internal bleeding to dictating emergency surgery to the diagnosis of bladder stones.
